Chapter overview
Purpose: Explore a few additional pitch collections after the core scale work is familiar. These patterns will be presented with specific names and contexts, rather than treating unfamiliar musical traditions as interchangeable colors.
Preparation: Use the corresponding teaching chapters first; these tables and indexes will serve as reference material.
Planned development
- Major and minor pentatonic patterns
- Blues-scale examples and listening context
- Whole-tone and diminished/octatonic patterns
- A sourced named tradition, such as hirajoshi, with limits of the piano illustration explained
Musical connection
Reference entries will point back to included exercises and source-reviewed repertoire; candidates are not yet published examples.
Development status: chapter opening only. Exercises, score examples, detailed practice instructions, and editorial review are forthcoming. This page establishes the proposed scope and reading order.
